Red Dirt Improv,
a troupe based out of Norman, Oklahoma, will present a
series of comedy performances titled "A Lot Off the Top," an improv
comedy show in two acts.
The
first act features high-energy short-form improv games based on suggestions
taken directly from the audience. The second half of the show features
a 30-minute improvised play based on Chicago's long-running, critically
acclaimed "Armando
Diaz Experience." A single monologist shares stories that launch
a series of improvised sketches based on a theme suggested by the
audience.
The troupe members are Curt Coy, Christopher Curtis, Jay
Edwards, Julie Pearson, James Murray, Buck Vrazel, Clint Vrazel,
and Raychel Winstead. This group is under the
direction of Tyler Bryce, a 17-year improv veteran who has performed and taught improv
in New York City, Boston, Chicago, Kansas City, Austin and across
North America.
Until recently, the members of Red Dirt Improv performed
in the college troupe Obviously Unrehearsed Improv! at the University
of Oklahoma. A sample of some recent performances by the college
troupe can be seen at the OU Improv website.
